How Much Does a Nail Course Cost? Fees and Duration Explained

If you are currently reading this article, you probably want to know is how much a nail course costs and how long it takes to complete, and If you already started checking different nail schools both online or offline, you may be wondering why the prices are so different. Kindly check other comprehensive articles we have on nail tech....on the top main menu. Thanks

Okay. Now let's go straight to the main business of the day.

Online price information can be tricky. One person may say ₦90,000. Another may say ₦150,000. Someone else may have paid ₦250,000 or even ₦350,000 offline.

So, which price is correct?

The simple answer is; it depends on the course, trainer, location, duration and skills you want to learn.

In Nigeria, you can find short nail classes for less than ₦50,000, while comprehensive beginner and advanced programmes can cost ₦100,000 to ₦250,000 or more.

The important thing is to understand what you are getting for the money.

How Much Does a Nail Course Cost?

For an estimate, a nail course fees in Nigeria could cost you about ₦50,000 - ₦100,000 for short beginner classes.

If you want more basic beginner courses, about ₦150,000 - ₦200,000 should get you through. And a one-month courses can go for about ₦250,000 or so.

A two to three-month courses can cost about ₦300,000 plus. While the advanced or specialised courses, should be around ₦350,000 plus.

These are only general ranges. There is no official national price for nail training, and individual trainers are free to set their own fees.

For example, online (mostly on Instagram) listings show beginner and advanced nail programmes at very different prices depending on the course. Some programmes also separate beginner training from upgrade classes, while others combine several nail skills into one package.

So don't look at the price alone.

Look at what the price includes.

How Long Does a Nail Course Take?

Nail courses can last anywhere from a few days to several months. The duration normally depends on how much you are learning.

- A simple masterclass may last two or three days.

- A beginner course may last two to six weeks.

- A more detailed programme can last two or three months.

And specialised courses can take even longer if you are learning several advanced techniques.

Here Is A Simple Breakdown.

Course type Typical
duration
General fee
  range

• Short masterclass 1–3 days ₦30,000 -
₦100,000+

• Basic beginner course 2–4 weeks ₦80,000 -
₦150,000

• Beginner professional course 4–6 weeks ₦100,000 - ₦200,000+

• Extended training 2–3 months ₦150,000 - ₦300,000+

• Advanced/specialised training Varies ₦200,000 - ₦350,000+

These figures are estimated, not fixed industry prices.

How Much Is a Beginner Nail Course?

If you have never done nails before, you will usually need a beginner course.

A beginner nail course may cost approximately ₦80,000 to ₦150,000, although some trainers charge less depending on what the offer is.

The course should teach you the basic skills needed to start developing your career as a nail technician.

Some courses also introduce students to client management and basic business skills, probably the advanced courses. But if you are new to nail tech, you won't need such high level training.

So, before paying, ask for the course outline.

You don't want to discover halfway through the training that the “complete beginner course” only covers three things. Kindly read our other articles on this. Thanks

How Much Is a 1-Month Nail Course?

A one-month nail course can cost around ₦100,000 to ₦200,000 or more. To teach no easy. To pass knowledge, is work. So time is money.

One month gives you more time to learn and practise than a short weekend class. This can be especially useful for beginners because nail technology is a practical skill.

You need to practise your hand movements, product application, shaping and finishing. You can watch 50 nail tutorials online and still struggle with your first set.

And that's okay.

Your hands need to learn too. A good one-month course should therefore include enough practical work, not just demonstrations.

How Much Is a 3-Month Nail Course?

Three-month nail training can range from roughly ₦250,000 or more.

However, don't assume that a three-month course is automatically better than a one-month course.

A longer course may cover more skills, but the quality of the training still depends on the tutor and course structure.

For example, one programme may spend three months teaching basic nail services, while another may use the same period to cover everything area of nail tech such as acrylics, gel extensions, builder gel, nail art, E-file techniques, and sculpting. So much more.

That is why you should ask:

“What exactly will I be able to do when I finish this course?” That question can tell you more than the duration.

How Much Is Nail Art Training?

Nail art training can be offered as part of a complete nail technician course or as a separate class.

A short nail art class may cost less than a complete professional nail course. Private lessons can also be priced differently because you are paying for one-on-one attention.

Some online tutoring platforms list nail art lessons by the hour, with prices varying according to the tutor and location. If you are already a nail technician, an individual nail art class may make more sense than paying for another complete beginner programme.

You can focus on the exact skill you want to improve.

For example:

“I already know acrylic. I only want to learn advanced nail art.”

That's a completely different training need from:

“I have never touched a nail brush before.”

How Much Is Nail Technician Training?

I have already explained this in previous articles, so I won't say to much on that. You already know by now, nail technician training is usually more comprehensive than a short nail art class - basics.

You are learning how to provide a complete nail service, rather than only learning how to create designs. Depending on the school, a professional nail technician course may cover:

1.Nail Preparation

You learn how to properly prepare the natural nail before applying products.

2. Gel Polish

You learn application, curing and finishing techniques.

3. Acrylic Nails

You learn how to work with acrylic products and create extensions.

4. Nail Extensions

You may learn different extension methods and how to choose the appropriate technique.

5. Nail Shaping

Good shaping can make a big difference to the final appearance of a set.

You may learn shapes such as square, almond, coffin and oval.

6. Nail Art

This can include French tips, ombre, marble, glitter, line work and other designs.

7. E-File Techniques

Some advanced courses teach the proper use of an electric nail file.

Lol, and I said I won't say too much. Okay ooooo.

8. Hygiene and Sanitation

This is an important part of professional nail services.

You need to understand how to keep your tools, work area and client environment clean and safe.

How Much Does a Nail Upgrade Course Cost?

If you already know the basics, an upgrade course may be a better option. An upgrade classes are designed to improve specific skills rather than teach everything from the beginning.

Depending on the trainer and subject, you may find upgrade courses around ₦60,000 to ₦150,000 plus

For example, some programmes advertise two- to four-week upgrade classes at prices below ₦100,000.

An upgrade course will teach advanced techniques, and nails artwork.  If you already have experience, this can save you both time and money.

Why Do Nail Courses Have Different Prices?

This is where many beginners get confused. Two people can learn nail technology for completely different amounts.

There are different reasons and factors, but they one I mostly single out is the experience of the trainer.

An experienced nail technician with a strong reputation may charge more. But don't assume that high price automatically means high quality.

What you should do, is to ask to see the trainer's work and, if possible, the work of previous students.

Another price determinate is course duration. For example, a three-day class will normally cost less than a three-month programme. But again, duration isn't everything.

Also, consider course content. A course covering only gel polish will be different from one covering acrylics, extensions, builder gel, e-file techniques and advanced nail art. I'll say more skills usually mean more training time.

Your choice for location is also a huge factor.  Because training fees vary from one city or area to another. You can guess that large commercial cities such as Lagos and Abuja have many different training options, from small independent trainers to established academies.

Another thing is, if you look at size of class, for example, small class may give you more individual attention. A large class may allow the trainer to charge less per student.

You don't want to be a farmer without farming tools. So in some case, you are require to get starter kit. Some courses include a starter kit.

Others don't.

This can make two courses with similar tuition fees look very different when you calculate the total amount you will spend.

Does the Nail Course Fee Include a Starter Kit?

Not always.

This is one of the first questions you should ask. Your training fee may cover only tuition.

You may then have to buy your own:

- Nail lamp

- Nail drill

- Nail files

- Brushes

- Gel polishes

- Acrylic products

- Nail tips

- Base and top coats

- Nail art products

  • Other tools

Some academies provide products for students to use during training but do not allow students to take them home.

Others may offer a separate starter package.

So before paying, ask:

“Are products and a starter kit included in the training fee?”

That one question can save you from an unpleasant surprise.

Is a Certificate Included in the Nail Course?

Is a Certificate Included in the Nail Course?

Some nail training programmes provide a certificate when you complete the course.

Others may charge separately or may not offer one.

A certificate can be useful as evidence that you completed a training programme, but don't choose a course based only on the certificate.

Your actual skill matters. A beautiful certificate cannot fix a badly applied set of nails.

And trust me, your client will notice. So, make sure you choose a course where you will actually learn and practise the skill.

Should I Pay ₦300,000 for Nail Training?

It depends.

₦300,000 may be expensive for a basic two-week course. But it could be reasonable for a comprehensive programme that includes several months of practical training, advanced techniques, business education, certification and other valuable support.

Always compare what is included.

For example:

• Course A - ₦100,000

Two weeks, basic nail preparation and gel polish.

• Course B - ₦200,000

One month, acrylic, gel extensions, nail art and practical sessions.

• Course C - ₦300,000

Three months, beginner-to-advanced training, practical work, business training and certification.

The cheapest course is not necessarily the best deal. And the most expensive course is not automatically the best either.

How to Choose a Nail Course

Before paying any nail training fee, ask the trainer these questions:

  1. How long is the training?
  2. What exactly will I learn?
  3. Is the training practical?
  4. Will I practise on models?
  5. Are products provided?
  6. Is a starter kit included?
  7. Is certification included?
  8. How many students will be in the class?
  9. Can I see previous students' work?
  10. Is there support after the course?

Also ask for the complete course outline.

If someone says:

“Don't worry, we'll teach you everything.”

That's nice. But please still ask:

“Everything like what?”

Get the details before you pay oooo. Otilo

Can I Learn Nail Technology for Less?

Yes.

You don't necessarily need to spend ₦300,000 to start learning nails.

If your budget is limited, you can look for a reputable beginner course within your price range and then improve your skills through practice and specialised upgrade classes.

You can also learn some techniques from free online resources. However, online tutorials are not a replacement for practical training when you need someone to correct your technique.

The important thing is to avoid choosing a course simply because it is the cheapest.

What's Next?

The duration can range from a few days to three months or longer. So, create the right time and schedule that wouldn't affect your job or house chores.

Remember that the fee is only part of the cost. Avoid hidden fee courses. Look for reviews, ask questions and request quotation.

You may also need money for your tools, products, transportation, practice materials and eventually setting up your nail business.

So before you pay any trainer, don't just ask:

“How much is the course?”

Ask:

“What exactly am I getting for my money?”

That is the question that can save you the most money.
